From people just like you. ## About the position Klang is looking for an experienced QA Engineer (f/m/d). You will be an integral part of our development process, working closely with our talented Engineers and QA team members. As a QA Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of „SEED by developing cutting-edge testing tools, automating testing processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain the highest quality standards throughout the game development lifecycle. You will also work with the QA Director to achieve quarterly OKRs, help define processes and create processes that are what good looks like. ## What you will do – Create, update and maintain testing tools to streamline the QA process, reduce manual efforts, and increase the efficiency of the testing team. – Develop and maintain automation scripts for testing various aspects of the game, ensuring comprehensive test coverage. – Work closely with game developers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand the game’s functionality, design test cases, and ensure that the game meets quality standards. – Collaborate with the QA team to develop test strategies, test plans, and test cases to ensure the game’s functionality and performance are thoroughly tested. – Identify, report, and track defects systematically, ensuring that issues are communicated and resolved promptly. – Perform regression testing to verify bug fixes and ensure that new updates do not introduce new issues. – Conduct performance testing to assess the game’s scalability and identify potential bottlenecks. – Document test procedures, test cases, and test results to maintain a clear record of testing efforts. – Participate in the development of QA processes, methodologies, and best practices. – Provide valuable feedback to the development team to enhance gameplay, user experience, and overall quality. – Work closely with the QA director to ensure efficient and thorough testing coverage. ## Who we think will be a great fit – Proven experience as a QA Engineer in the gaming industry. – Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, C#, Java). – Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium, JUnit). – Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA). – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail. – Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team. The recruiter screen: You will have a 45-minute interview with one of the Klang Talent Acquisition Team. We will also ask you a set of questions that are linked to our company values. 2. Hiring Manager: If successful, you will have a 30-minute interview with Craig Harrison, our QA Director. This is usually the person who you would report to and you will dive much deeper into your experience. 3. Competency: A 45-minute interview with our QA Director and our QA Engineer to dive deeper on your skills and competencies through a series of questions. 4. Culture Add: A 30-minute interview with María Rey (Studio Operations Director) and/or Cathy Liu (Development Director). This is to assess how you would fit into the team as well as for you to decide if you feel there is a team fit from your side. ## So what can you expect to be working on after starting with us? In your first 30 days: – Onboarding and Relationship Building: Complete the initial onboarding process, including an introduction to Klang’s culture, values, and policies. Begin forming connections with members of the QA team and other team members. – Quality Assurance Excellence: Familiarize yourself with the existing quality assurance processes and standards at Klang, and establish rapport with the QA team. – Test Automation: Begin learning the existing test automation framework and tools used at Klang. Start drafting fully comprehensive automation plans. – Efficiency and Productivity: Identify initial areas where manual testing efforts can be streamlined and start discussions with the team on potential improvements. – Comprehensive Testing: Review the current testing documentation and develop a test case inventory for key game features. – Bug Detection and Resolution: Report and track at least defects found, and begin collaborating with the development team to understand the resolution process. – Performance Testing: Familiarize yourself with the performance testing needs and create initial performance test cases. – Collaboration and Documentation: Attend team meetings and understand the current communication and documentation practices in place. Start contributing to test documentation as appropriate. – Quarterly OKRs Achievement: Understand the current quarterly OKRs and how they relate to the QA process. Begin collaborating with the QA Director on potential contributions. – Feedback and Collaboration: Attend Sprint Demos and other Scrum rituals to understand the game’s progress and actively participate by providing feedback on initial gameplay and user experience. – Cross-Location Collaboration: Initiate communication with team members across different geographical locations, establishing initial connections and understanding their roles and contributions. – Proficiency with Tools: Begin using test management and bug-tracking software effectively in daily tasks. In your first 60 days: – Onboarding and Relationship Building: Deepen your understanding of Klang’s culture and how it aligns with the studio’s mission and vision.
